FAQ
Starting a new project and have a few questions? Here are the answers to some of the things people most often ask.
How much does a typical small business website cost?
Costs depend on the number of pages, functionality and any extras like copywriting or Local SEO, but most small business brochure sites fall within a clearly defined price range once we have discussed your goals.
How long will my website project take from start to finish?
For a standard brochure-style business website, most projects take around 1–2 weeks from the point I receive all content and agree the brief. Larger or more complex sites can take longer.
Do you work with clients outside my local area?
Yes, I work with small businesses across the whole of the UK, including England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, using phone, email and online meetings to keep projects moving smoothly.
Can you redesign or update my existing website instead of building a new one?
Yes, I can review your current site, identify design, speed and SEO issues, and either refresh it or rebuild it in WordPress so it is easier to manage and better optimised for search.
Will my new website be mobile friendly?
Absolutely; all websites I build are responsive, adapting to mobiles, tablets and desktops so customers can browse easily on any device.
Do you offer e-commerce websites as well as brochure sites?
Yes, alongside brochure-style business websites I also design and build e-commerce stores so you can sell products or services online securely and efficiently.
Do I need to write all the text for my website myself?
No, if you prefer I can provide copywriting services to plan and write the key pages for you, ensuring your content is clear, on-brand and optimised for search engines.
What happens if I don’t have professional photos?
It is ideal to use real photos of your business, but if that is not possible I can source suitable images from online libraries and recommend visuals that fit your brand.
Can I update the text and images on my website myself after it goes live?
Yes, your website is built in WordPress so you can log in, edit text, add images and publish new pages or blog posts without needing to know any code.
Can you help with buying and managing my domain name?
Yes, I can handle domain purchase, configuration and ongoing management for you, so everything from DNS settings to renewals is taken care of.
Do you provide website hosting?
Yes, I can arrange reliable hosting for your site or work with your existing provider, and I will advise you on the best option based on performance, security and budget.
What kind of support do you offer after launch?
I can provide ongoing maintenance, security updates, small content changes and advice, so your website continues to perform well and stays secure over time.
Can you fix issues on a site built by someone else?
In many cases yes; I can audit your current WordPress website, resolve common issues and recommend improvements to speed, usability and SEO.
Is my website optimised for search engines?
Yes, I take a detailed approach to on-page optimisation, ensuring key technical areas, structure and content are set up correctly so your site has the best possible start in the results.
Do you offer Local SEO services for small businesses?
Yes, alongside web design I provide Local SEO services to help small businesses in locations such as London, Glasgow and Belfast rank higher in local search and attract more nearby customers.
Can you manage my Google Business Profile?
Yes, I offer Google Business Profile management and optimisation, including setting up or claiming your listing, improving the information, adding photos and posts, and helping you attract more local leads.
Why do I need both a website and a Google Business Profile?
They are separate but complementary channels; together they give you better visibility, more detail for customers and stronger local SEO than relying on just one.
How do we get started on a new website project?
First we have a chat about your business, goals, budget and any example sites you like, then I outline a proposal and, once agreed, begin the design and build.
What do you need from me before you start?
Typically your logo, branding guidelines if you have them, any existing text or images, plus basic information about your services, target customers and locations you serve.
How do you handle payments for projects?
For most projects I take an initial deposit to secure the booking and the balance on completion, with all costs clearly agreed in advance so there are no surprises.
